A well centered and very fine used single of the 8c multicoloured child and blanket stamp from the 1975 Christmas Issue, showing the omission of the top layer of red colour.  This is most likely caused by a repellex error.

If you look at the design under a loupe you can see the screening dots of the printing and can see that the colour is comprised of several layers of dots, which include orange, light red, pink and violet. Then normally there is another layer of red added that gives the blanket its purple colour and makes the spots appear red, instead of orange red. There are other effects as well: The hair of the women is usually not jet black because of the red and the pants or skirt of the woman on the left is usually a violet blue, whereas on the error stamp it is a pure dark blue, while the hair is black on the two women on the left.  Printed on high fluorescent paper.

Unitrade does not list this error, but we estimate the value at $50.  The stamp offered here grades 82 as follows:

Centering/margins: 44/60
Paper freshness: 5/5
Colour: 5/5

Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5
Perforations: 10/10
