Canada #411i $1 Carmine Rose Exports, 1962-1967 Cameo Issue, a VFNH LR Plate 1 Pair, LF-fl Greyish Horizontal Wove Paper, Smooth Gum, Perf. 12
A very well centered and very fine NH lower right plate pair of the $1 carmine rose exports stamp of the 1962-1967 Cameo Issue, printed on the so-called "low fluorescent" paper, which is actually a dull fluorescent flecked paper that contains a sparse concentration of low fluorescent fibres that make it look brighter than the standard DF or NF papers.
This stamp was printed in three shades during it's life: carmine lake, deep carmine rose and carmine rose. The earlier printings were carmine-lake and the later printings are carmine-rose. The stamp was also printed on a variety of horizontal and vertical wove papers, and is found with both smooth and streaky cream gums. Some are also printed on paper that shows the mesh very clearly as well. Perforations vary greatly, with various combinations of 12. 11.95 11.9 and 11.85 and compounds being found.
The pair offered here is perf. 12 x 12 and printed on horizontal wove paper with no vertical ribbing on the back, and smooth cream gum that has a semi-gloss sheen. It is printed in the carmine rose shade.
Unitrade lists this pair at $100 in this grade. The pair offered here grades 84 as follows:
Paper freshness: 5/5
Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5
