Canada #411 $1 Carmine Rose Exports, 1962-1967 Cameo Issue, a VFNH UR Plate 1 Pair, DF-fl Grey Violet Horizontal Wove Paper, Streaky Gum, Perf. 11.95 x 12
A well centered and very fine NH upper right left plate pair of the $1 carmine rose exports stamp of the 1962-1967 Cameo Issue, printed on dull fluorescent grey violet flecked paper with very few low fluorescent fibres that make it look slightly brighter than the standard dull fluorescent or non-fluorescent papers.
This stamp was printed in three shades during it's life: carmine lake, deep carmine rose and carmine rose. The earlier printings were carmine-lake and the later printings are carmine-rose. The stamp was also printed on a variety of horizontal and vertical wove papers, and is found with both smooth and streaky cream gums. Some are also printed on paper that shows the mesh very clearly as well. Perforations vary greatly, with various combinations of 12. 11.95 11.9 and 11.85 and compounds being found.
The pair offered here is perf. 11.95 x 12 and printed on horizontal wove paper with no visible ribbing and streaky cream gum. It is printed in the carmine rose shade.
Unitrade lists this pair at $24 in this grade. The pair offered here grades 80 as follows:
Paper freshness: 5/5
Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5
