Canada #40a 10c Lilac-Pink, Queen Victoria, 1870-1897 Small Queen Issue, A Very Good Used Example of the 1888 Printing

Sold out

A very good used example of the last Montreal printing of the 10c lilac-pink Queen Victoria stamp from the 1870-1897 Small Queen Issue Perf. 12.25, and printed on soft horizontal wove paper. This is listed in Gibbons as #89. Gibbons lists this stamp a little differently than Unitrade does, giving fewer listings, but oddly enough they list the last Montreal shade and Unitrade does not, opting to list more variation of the lilacs and magentas. Unitrade values a F-65 used single at $50, so a VG example should be worth about $25.  The stamp offered here grades 55 as follows:

Margins/centering: 25/60

Paper freshness: 5/5

Colour: 5/5

Impression: 5/5

Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5

Perforations: 5/10

Cancellation: 5/10
