Canada #403vi 3c Deep Dull Reddish Violet Queen Elizabeth II, 1962-1967 Cameo Issue, a VFNH Sheet Margin Field Stock Block Tagged With Light Bars

Sold out

A well centered and VFNH upper sheet margin field stock block of the 3c deep dull reddish violet stamp of the 1962-1967 Cameo Issue, printed on smooth DF paper, and tagged with bars of light strength. Perf. 11.95 with a smooth dex gum that has a semi-gloss sheen. Also included for comparison is a block printed in purple, tagged with bars of deep strength, perf. 11.9 x 11.95 and having streaky gum with a semi-gloss sheen.

The tagging on this issue does exhibit some differences that are not specifically mentioned in Unitrade. The main one is that the strength varies from light, which is almost invisible, to moderate, which is visible, but not dark, and finally to dark, in which the bands appear deep yellow. The width of the bands also varies from the standard width of between 8-9 mm to a smaller size of 7 mm, which was applied at the outer columns of the panes of some, but not all printings.

These blocks have narrow selvedge on the bottom and top, so the darker block will come from either a centre pane or lower pane, while the other block comes from either an upper pane or a centre pane.

Unitrade lists four singles of each of these at $21.20. The blocks offered here grade 75 and 80 as follows:

Centering/Margins 45/70 and 50/70

Paper freshness: 5/5

Colour: 5/5

Impression: 5/5

Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5

Perforations: 10/10
