A very fine NH miniature pane of 25 of the 2c green stamp of the 1962-1967 Cameo Issue. This pane is printed on dull fluorescent greyish white, vertical wove paper that shows no horizontal mesh. It is perf. 11.9 x 11.95 and has streaky cream gum.

In terms of paper, Unitrade only lists these panes on DF paper. The one exception is the very rare fluorescent paper on the 4c panes. However on all values a dull fluorescent paper containing a few fluorescent flecks can also be found. The paper of these panes is generally vertical wove, as is the case with the sheet stamps.

Also, in most instances, the paper is opaque, showing only a faint image of the design through the back. However, some panes are found with more of the design visible on the back, and the 5c is also known printed in aniline ink, which suffuses through the back of the stamps.

In terms of gum, there are generally two types:

    1. A smooth, cream coloured gum that has a semi-gloss sheen. That is the gum found on the two panes in this lot.
    2. A streaky, cream coloured gum that has a semi-gloss sheen.

In terms of shade, there are shade variations on each value. The 5c can be found in violet blue and deep ultramarine shades.

The perforations also vary due to the fact that CBN used up to four different machines to perforate sheets during this period. The old machines gauging 12 and 11.9 were used to perforate most of the original printings, and then the newer machines were used for the later printings. One of these new machines gauges 11.95, while the other one introduced sometime in 1961 gauges 11.85. Compounds can also be found of both these gauges, so that all sheet stamps can be found with many different perforation measurements that at least include: 11.95 x 11.9, 11.95 x 11.85, 11.9 x 11.95, 11.9, 11.95, 11.85 x 11.95, 11.85 x 11.9, 12 x 11.9, 11.9 x 12 and 11.85 x 12.

The Unitrade catalogue value of this pane is $10, counting it as the basic variety. A wonderful opportunity to get started on a more specialized collection of these miniature panes.
