A very fine appearing, but fine mint LH example of the mid Montreal printing of the 6c yellow brown Queen Victoria stamp from the 1870-1897 Small Queen Issue. Perf. 11.5 x 12, and printed on vertical wove paper with clear, fine mesh. This stamp has the characteristic matte, somewhat streaky gum that is common to all the perf. 11.5 x 12 printings. The top two perforations at the upper left are creased, which reduces the grade from VF to fine. Unitrade values a F-65 mint example at $500. A nice stamp nonetheless, despite the small fault. The stamp offered here grades 65 as follows:
Margins/centering: 45/70
Paper freshness: 5/5
Colour: 5/5
Impression: 5/5
Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5
Perforations: 0/10
