Two fine used examples of the mid Montreal printing of the 1c lemon yellow Queen Victoria stamp from the 1870-1897 Small Queen Issue, each printed in a slightly different shade, on a different paper. Both stamps are perf. 11.75 x 12 and both are cancelled with dated Montreal split ring cancels (1877 and 1881). The 1881 dated stamp is printed in a very thick and stiff vertical wove paper, while the 1877 dated copy is on a similar paper that is not quite as thick or stiff. Unitrade values two F-65 used singles at $20. The stamps offered here grade 68 as follows:
