Canada #345 2c Green Queen Elizabeth II, 1954-1962 Wilding Issue, A Fine OG Coil Repair Paste-Up Strip on Dull Fluorescent Horizontal Wove Paper
A fine centered and fine OG repair paste-up strip of 4 of the 2c green Queen Elizabeth II coil stamp from the 1954-1962 Wilding Issue, printed on a dull fluorescent yellowish grey, smooth, horizontal wove paper, with smooth semi-gloss gum.
On this issue the paper used for printing the coil stamps mirrors that used for the sheet stamps, and the early printings are on horizontally ribbed paper. Later printings are on a smooth, horizontal wove paper that often shows light vertical ribbing. This ribbing can either be present on the print side of the paper, or on the gummed side. It is this later paper on which most of the listed fluorescent varieties are found. Most of the smooth papers are dull fluorescent under UV, but the colour of the reaction can vary quite widely, from a bright bluish white to a deeper violet reaction. This paper gives a dull fluorescent greyish reaction under UV light, that has a yellowish tinge.
In addition, this strip has an additional narrow spacing variety between the middle stamps, in which the space is only 2.5 mm instead of the usual 4 mm.
Unitrade lists this strip at $40 in the VF grade for NH, so a fine OG strip should be worth $10. The strip offered here grades F-70 as follows:
Paper freshness: 5/5
Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5
