Canada #286 3c Deep Claret King George VI, 1949-1952 Postes Postage Revised Issue, A Dramatic Misperf on Ribbed Paper, Fine OG

Sold out

A fine centered (left to right) example of the 3c rose purple King George VI stamp from the 1949-1952 Postes Postage Revised Issue, showing a dramatic misperf in which the perfs are shifted downward by almost 5 mm, causing most of the inscription to appear at the bottom, rather than the top. Printed on horizontal ribbed vertical wove paper that shows no distinct mesh, and with a smooth deep cream gum that has a semi-gloss sheen. Unitrade does not list misperfs, but generally a misperf like this will sell for $40-$50 in NH condition, so in hinged condition it should be worth $20 or so.  The stamp offered here grades 70 as follows:

Centering/margins: 40/70
Paper freshness: 5/5
Colour: 5/5
Impression: 5/5
Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5
Perforations: 10/10
