Canada #24 2c Deep Green Queen Victoria, 1868-1897 Large Queen Issue, A Very Good Re-Gummed Mint Example on Duckworth Paper 3

Sold out

A very good mint example of the 2c deep green Queen Victoria stamp from the 1868-1897 Large Queen Issue. Printed on Duckworth Paper 3 and perf. 12 x 12.1.  There is crackly gum, though I doubt it is original, as it just does not look like gum that I am used to seeing on these issues. A thorough check of the perforation tips does not reveal any signs of regumming, but I can see a very tiny dot of gum in between two of the bottom perforations. So, I do think it is re-gummed, probably sometime in the very late 19th century and likely in Europe, as the gum looks like what would usually be seen on many European stamps from this time. Unitrade values this stamp in this grade without gum at $250. The stamp offered here grades 55 as follows:

Centering/margins: 25/70
Paper freshness: 5/5
Colour: 5/5
Impression: 5/5
Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5
Perforations: 10/10
