Canada #233var 3c Deep Carmine Red King George VI, 1937-1942 Mufti Issue, A OG Example Showing "Broken Crown" at Upper Right

Sold out

A well centered and very fine OG example of the 3c deep carmine red King George VI stamp from the 1937-1942 Mufti Issue, showing a major unlisted plate flaw, consisting of a break in the crown at upper right.   Printed on horizontal ribbed vertical wove paper with deep yellowish cream gum, that is disturbed overall. This must be a scarce variety, as the only two listed plate flaws on this stamp: "the crease on collar" and the "cracked ear" are very scarce, and until I saw this I thought they were the only plate varieties that exist on this stamp.  Unitrade does not list this variety, but I think the value should be comparable to the other two varieties, which are valued at $100 each. So, an estimate of $50 is entirely reasonable.  The stamp offered here grades 80 as follows:

Centering/margins: 50/70
Paper freshness: 5/5
Colour: 5/5
Impression: 5/5
Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5
Perforations: 10/10
