Canada #231 1c Green King George VI, 1937-1942 Mufti Issue, Fine NH Block of 4, Vertical Wove Paper, Cream Gum, Showing a Fabulous "Narrow 1" Variety

Sold out

A fresh and fine NH block of 4 of the 1c green King George VI stamp from the 1937-1942 Mufti Issue, showing an unlisted plate flaw, consisting of a "narrow right 1" very similar to the same variety on the Dated Die Issue.  It is not clear whether or not this is a constant variety, but it is interesting and very striking, Overinking on the bottom 2 stamps causes the right "1"'s of both stamps to be deformed and appear "narrowed". This is a very similar type of variety to the "narrow 1" on the Dated Die Issue coil stamps. Crisp and smooth vertical wove paper, and smooth cream gum that has a semi-gloss sheen.  Unitrade does not list this variety, but our estimate for the block is $50. This is the most prominent plate variety I have come across on this issue to date. The block offered here grades 70 as follows:

Margins/centering: 40/70

Paper freshness: 5/5

Colour: 5/5

Impression: 5/5

Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5

Perforations: 10/10
