A fine used example of the 42c multicoloured air balloon stamp from the 2001 Hot Air Balloons issue, with the green sky, showing a 1 mm rightward printing shift, which causes the balloon in the main foreground to appear double. John Jamieson's notes on the 102 card suggest that this is due to a shift in the die cutting. However, when we lay the stamp over top of a regular one, the die cuts are in the same place, which shows that the variety is due to a printing shift.

Unitrade does not list this variety, but Jamieson had priced it at $24.95, which seems reasonable, given its unusual nature.

The stamp offered here grades 70 as follows:

Margins/centering: 40/70

Paper freshness: 5/5

Colour: 5/5

Impression: 5/5

Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5

Cancellation: 10/10
