Canada #1358, 1358ii 43c Queen Elizabeth II, 1991-1998 Fruit and Flag Issue, Two F-VF Used Examples of the LF and MF Peterborough Paper Printings, One Showing Major Colour Shift and the Other Showing Major Perf. Jump

Sold out

One fine and one VF used example of the 43c Queen Elizabeth II sheet stamp from the 1991-1998 Fruit and Flag Issue, on Peterborough paper, each showing a major variety as follows:

  • The first stamp is on the low fluorescent paper and was nicknamed the "Vampire Queen". It is a blurring of all the details caused by a 1/4 mm rightward shift of the grey overlay colour that changes the black background into silver.
  • The second stamp is on the medium fluorescent paper and shows a jump in the perforating comb, resulting in the irregular perforations at the top and bottom.

Unitrade does not list colour shifts and perforation jumps like this, but they are not common. Both are the first of their kind that I have seen or offered. A reasonable estimate of the value is $15 for the pair. The stamps offered here grade 70 and 75 as follows:

Centering/Margins 30/60 and 35/60

Paper freshness: 5/5

Colour: 5/5

Impression: 5/5

Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5

Perforations: 10/10
