Canada #135 (SG#244) 3c Bistre Brown 50th Anniversary of Confederation, A Beautiful CDS Used Example

Sold out

A very well centered, jumbo margined CDS used example of the 3c bistre brown father of confederation stamp from the 1917 50th Anniversary of Confederation Issue.

This is by far the nicest used #135 I have had the pleasure of offering in a very long time. Although not high in catalogue value, there are two factors that make it very difficult to find in superlative used condition. Firstly, the margins between the stamps are not wide, so even when it is well centered, the margins are not usually anywhere near the size they are here. Secondly they are usually cancelled with wavy line machine or slogan machine cancels, which obliterate the design. CDS examples like this are in the minority. This is easily a 1 in a 1,000 example.

Unitrade values a VF-75 used example at $3. The stamp offered here grades VF-84 as follows:

Margins/centering: 44/60

Paper freshness: 5/5

Colour: 5/5

Impression: 5/5

Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5

Perforations: 10/10
