Canada #1183 $5 Bonsecours Market 1988-1991 Wildlife and Architecture Issue, a VF Used Example on Peterborough Paper With a July 8, 1992 CDS Cancel

Sold out

A VF used example of the $5 Bonsecours Market stamp from the 1988-1991 Wildlife and Architecture Issue, cancelled with a SON CDS dated July 8, 1992.  The Printings differ according to (1) whether the columns in the dome are light or dark in colour and (2) the intensity of the grey black in the roofline. This stamp is on DF/DF-fl Peterborough Paper has light columns and a light grey roofline.

On this issue paper fluorescence has been completely ignored because the perception is that all the stamps are on dull paper. However, this is a bit of an oversimplification, as the pictures of the $1 stamps will show. While it is true that the Harrison paper is dull on the face, or non-fluorescent on the face, stamps on this paper can be found with low and medium fluorescence on the back.

Unitrade lists this stamp at $3 for fine used. The stamp offered here grades 84 as follows:

Centering/Margins 44/60

Paper freshness: 5/5

Colour: 5/5

Impression: 5/5

Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5

Perforations: 10/10

Cancellation: 10/10
