A VF used group of 8 different printings of the $2 McAdam Railway Station stamp from the 1988-1991 Wildlife and Architecture Issue. The Printings differ according to (1) the fluorescence of the paper on the back, (2) the evenness of the dot shading pattern of the background (3) the colour of the roof trim and (4) whether the vertical rails in the roof are thick or thin. The printings thus are:

  • DF/DF Harrison Paper, random dot pattern, light green trim, thin rails.
  • DF/DF Harrison paper, random dot pattern, deeper green trim, thin rails.
  • DF/NF Harrison paper, random dot pattern, light green trim, thin rails.
  • DF/DF-fl Coated Papers paper, random dot pattern, deeper green trim, thicker rails.
  • DF/DF Coated Papers paper, random dot pattern, deeper green trim, thicker rails.
  • DF/DF Coated Papers paper, random dot pattern, deeper green trim, thicker rails, lighter orange shade.
  • DF/NF Coated Papers paper, random dot pattern, deeper green trim, thicker rails.
  • DF/DF Coated Papers paper, even dot pattern, deeper green trim, thicker rails.

On this issue paper fluorescence has been completely ignored because the perception is that all the stamps are on dull paper. However, this is a bit of an oversimplification, as the pictures of the $1 stamps will show. While it is true that the Harrison paper is dull on the face, or non-fluorescent on the face, stamps on this paper can be found with low and medium fluorescence on the back.

Unitrade lists these stamps at $20.05 for VF used, as basic varieties of 1182, 1182iii and 1182iv. The stamps offered here grade between 75 and 80 as follows:
