Canada #1182 $2 McAdam Railway Station 1988-1991 Wildlife and Architecture Issue, a VF SON CDS Used Example of the Harrison Paper Printing, Winnipeg, MB, August 18, 1989
A VF used example of the $2 McAdam Railway Station stamp from the 1988-1991 Wildlife and Architecture Issue, cancelled with an SON strike of August 18, 1989 Winnipeg CDS cancel. This stamp is also printed on an unlisted DF/MF-fl paper.
The Printings differ according to (1) the fluorescence of the paper on the back, (2) the evenness of the dot shading pattern of the background (3) the colour of the roof trim and (4) whether the vertical rails in the roof are thick or thin. This stamp has a random dot pattern, light green trim and thin rails.
On this issue paper fluorescence has been completely ignored because the perception is that all the stamps are on dull paper. However, this is a bit of an oversimplification, as the pictures of the $1 stamps will show. While it is true that the Harrison paper is dull on the face, or non-fluorescent on the face, stamps on this paper can be found with low and medium fluorescence on the back.
Unitrade lists this stamp at $1.35 for the normal DF/DF paper, but this paper appears to be quite scarce, and given the extraordinary eye appeal of this example, my estimate is $5. The stamp offered here grades 80 as follows:
Paper freshness: 5/5
Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5
