A VF used group of 13 different printings of the $1 Runnymede Library. The Printings differ according to (1) the fluorescence of the paper on the back, (2) whether the tan bricks are dotted or solid, (3) whether the header above the door has squared or rounded ends, (4) the colour of the inscription and (5) the colour of the roof. The printings thus are:

  • DF/DF Harrison paper, dotted bricks, header with squared ends, black inscription, and black roof.
  • DF/DF Harrison paper, dotted bricks, header with squared ends, black inscription, and grey roof.
  • DF/DF Harrison paper, dotted bricks, header with squared ends, black inscription, lighter blue shading and grey roof.

On this issue paper fluorescence has been completely ignored because the perception is that all the stamps are on dull paper. However, this is a bit of an oversimplification, as the pictures of the $1 stamps will show. While it is true that the Harrison paper is dull on the face, or non-fluorescent on the face, stamps on this paper can be found with low and medium fluorescence on the back.

Unitrade lists these stamps at $18.30 for VF used, as basic varieties of 1181 and 1181iv. The stamp offered here grade between 80 and 84 as follows:

Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5
