Canada #1162T1var 37c Multicoloured Queen Elizabeth II, 1988-1991 Wildlife and Architecture Issue, A VF Used Example With the Tagging Almost Completely Missing
A very fine used example of the 37c multicoloured Queen Elizabeth II stamp from the 1988-1991 Wildlife and Architecture Issue, showing the tagging almost completely missing. The Unitrade listing is for an example with the tagging completely omitted, but this one shows a very, very light trace of tagging, though in carefully examining the stamp I can see no evidence of chemical alteration and no degradation of the chalk coating on the paper, one of which I would expect to see if the stamp was altered to remove the tagging. I think the omitted tagging on this stamp is likely a progressive error in which it gets weaker and weaker, until it is completely missing, with this example being about as close as one can get to completely missing, while still seeing some trace of the tagging. Printed on dull fluorescent Harrison paper. Unitrade values a F-65 used example of the completely missing tagging at $75.
The stamp offered here grades VF-78 as follows:
Paper freshness: 5/5
Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5
