Canada #1159 6c Red Fox 1988-1991 Wildlife and Architecture Issue, a VFNH Sealed Pack of Inscription Blocks on NF/DF Slater Paper, Type 4 Pale Blue HB Card Insert
A VFNH sealed pack of inscription blocks of the 6c Red Fox from the 1988-1991 Wildlife and Architecture Issue, printed on NF/DF slater paper. The pack contains a hibrite type 4 pale blue insert card. This type has the old Canada Post logo featuring the half flag and plain lettering, with Canada Post on a single line. It was replaced shortly after this by type 5, which has the new "arrow" logo and is printed in dark blue.
On this issue paper fluorescence has been completely ignored because the perception is that all the stamps are on dull paper. However, this is a bit of an oversimplification, as the pictures of some of the low value stamps will show. While it is true that the coated Slater, Harrison, Rolland and Peterborough papers are generally dull on the face, or non-fluorescent on the face, stamps on Coated Papers Paper are truly "dead" on the face most of the time and are much darker under UV than the stamps on any other paper. On the back, the papers vary from NF which is quite greyish to DF cream to a very light low fluorescence on some of the Harrison papers.
Unitrade lists these blocks at $5.00 for VFNH. The packs are not listed, but are becoming collectible as more and more of them are opened and collectors discover the differences in pack size and properties of the card inserts. The blocks offered here grade between 75 based on the top block in the pack as follows:
Paper freshness: 5/5
Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5
