Canada #112a (SG#250a) 5c Blackish Purple King George V, 1911-27 Admiral Issue, A VF Appearing NH Mint Example on the "Thin" Paper

Sold out

A well centered and very fine appearing NH example of the 5c blackish purple (violet in Unitrade), wet printing Admiral stamp on the so called "thin paper" from the 1911-1928 Admiral Issue. Printed on white vertical wove paper with very coarse vertical mesh, and measuring 0.0035" thick. The gum is smooth shiny and transparent, with a slight yellowish tinge. There is what appears to be a natural horizontal pre-printing paper crease running along the top portion of the design. I can tell, from how fine the crease is that this was very unlikely to have been caused by a collector, as it is not visible from the front and just shows on the back as a line in the gum. Unitrade values a F-65 NH single at $30. The stamp offered here grades 70 as follows:

Centering/margins: 50/70

Paper freshness: 5/5

Colour: 5/5

Impression: 5/5

Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5

Perforations: 10/10

Adjustment for natural pre-printing crease: -10 points
