Australia #331 (SG#327a) 5/- Deep Brown Red Aboriginal Stockman, 1958-1964 Definitive Issue, a Very Fine NH Example of the Scarce White Paper

Sold out

A very well centered and NH example of the 5/- Aboriginal stockman stamp from the 1958-1964 definitive issue, printed on the scarcer white paper.

Scott does not list the white paper printings, which were introduced towards the middle of 1963. Stamps that were in use during this time that were introduced in the earlier period, when cream paper was used exit on both papers, but generally the white papers are much scarcer, due to the fact that they were in use for only a very short time before the next issue of 1963-1966 replaced them. On this value, the colour is completely different - brown-red, rather than the red-brown of the earlier cream paper printings.

Gibbons lists a single at 90 pounds (approx. $180) for VFNH.  The stamp offered here grades 84 as follows:

Centering/Margins 54/70

Paper freshness: 5/5

Colour: 5/5

Impression: 5/5

Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5

Perforations: 10/10
