Canada #591xxiii (SG#698) 6c Red Pearson 1972-1978 Caricature Issue Precanceled Warning Strip HF Paper VF-75 NH

SKU 323039823235

A very fine NH left sheet margin warning strip of the 6c deep rose red precancelled Lester Pearson stamp from the 1973-1977 Caricature Issue. Printed on vertical wove paper with no ribbing. The paper gives a low fluorescent bluish white reaction under ultraviolet light on the front, with low density concentrations of low and medium fluorescent fibres, and very few high fluorescent fibres visible. On the back, the paper gives a medium fluorescent bluish white reaction with low density concentrations of low and medium fluorescent fibres, being visible.  General OP-2 Ottawa tagging, 4 mm wide, of moderate strength (clearly visible to the naked eye, but not dark), and glowing a bright yellow under ultraviolet light. Comb perforated 12.0 x 12.5. There is a mis-alignment of the vertical perforations about mid way up the fourth stamps from the top, and the third stamps from the bottom where one strike of the perforating comb meets the next. This proves that the sheets required more than one strike of the perforating comb to perforate them - at least three in fact.  Smooth, creamy PVA gum with a satin sheen. Also, the horizontal perforations stop one full perforation short of the edge of the left selvage tab, while the top and bottom selvage are fully perforated through. Unitrade lists #591xxii as HF paper, but to me this paper is more of a MF variation. There is no listing for LF paper, though and most of the so called MF varieties are actually LF. This one is definitely what Unitrade means when they list HF.  Unitrade values a VF-75 NH strip on the basic MF paper at $60. My price reflects a premium for the perforation anomalies noted. The strip offered here grades 75 as follows: Margins/centering: 45/70  Paper freshness: 5/5  Colour: 5/5  Impression: 5/5  Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5 Perforations: 10/10 Note: the above scan is a stock photo as are all my scans for material after 1952. The item(s) you will receive has (have) been carefully checked to adhere to the above grading standards, so while it (they) may not be exactly the same, it (they) will be of the same quality. Also, I do not provide back scans of NH stamps or blocks after 1952 unless they are required to illustrate some attribute of the paper or gum.
