Three very fine NH singles of the 6c scarlet and bright scarlet Lester Pearson stamps from the 1973-1977 Caricature Issue, each printed on a different paper. General OP-2 Ottawa tagging, 4 mm wide, of light strength (barely visible to the naked eye), and moderate strength (clearly visible to the naked eye, but not dark), and glowing a bright yellow under ultraviolet light. The paper gives different reactions under UV light as follows:

  • A bright scarlet stamp is on a vertical wove paper with a burnished smooth surface texture. Under UV light, the paper gives a dull fluorescent greyish white reaction on the front, with a sparse concentration of low fluorescent fibres and a very sparse concentration of medium fluorescent fibres visible. On the back the paper gives a dull fluorescent bluish white reaction, with a sparse concentration of low fluorescent fibres and a very sparse concentration of medium fluorescent fibres, being visible in the paper. Tagging is of light strength and the gum is smooth PVA with a satin sheen.
