Canada #442 (SG#567) 1965 5c Ottawa Centenary Issue Rose Craft First Day Cover XF-91
An extremely fine example of the 5c deep brown 1965 Ottawa Centenary Issue First Day Cover, with a block of four. Black and white Rose Craft cachet depicting the War Memorial in Ottawa, as well as Sparks and Elgin Streets. The envelope is on hibrite paper stock, while the block is printed on paper giving a dull fluorescent greyish white reaction under ultraviolet light. The block is tied by a crisp strike of an Ottawa wavy line first day cancel. The cover offered here grades XF-91 as follows:
Intactness of the cover: 25/25
Paper freshness from the front: 20/25
Paper freshness from the back: 8/10
Condition of the paper and edges: 15/15
Appearance of the handwriting: 5/5 (unaddressed)
Clarity of the postal markings: 15/15
Condition of the stamps: 3/5
Unitrade lists a Rosecraft or Artcraft cachet for a single stamp, on dull paper, on cover for $2. Unitrade does list multiples on cover, but a more reasonable value for this is $3. Note: the above scan is a stock photo as are all my scans for material after 1952. The cover you will receive has been carefully checked to adhere to the above grading standards, so while it (they) may not be exactly the same, it (they) will be of the same quality.
