Canada #340i (SG#466) 4c Dull Milky Violet 1954 Wilding Issue DF LV Smooth Paper VF-75 NH
A very fine NH example of the 4c dull milky violet Queen Elizabeth II stamp from the 1954 Wilding Issue. The stamp is printed on cream vertical wove paper that shows no visible ribbing and gives a dull-fluorescent light violet reaction under ultraviolet light, that appears like a "wash" over the stamp. It is very distinct and I do not recall seeing it before on any other value. Smooth cream coloured gum. Unitrade values a VF-75 NH single on the normal greyish dull fluorescent paper at $0.35. They do not list this distinct variety. The stamp offered here grades 75 as follows:
Paper freshness: 5/5
Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5
Note: the above scan is a stock photo as are all my scans for material after 1952.The item (s) you will receive has (have) been carefully checked to adhere to the above grading standards, so while it (they) may not be exactly the same, it (they) will be of the same quality. Also, I do not provide back scans of NH stamps or blocks after 1952 unless they are required to illustrate some attribute of the paper of gum.
