Canada #339p (SG#465p) 3c Carmine 1954 Wilding Issue W2B Blank UR Cutting Guideline Block DF GW Paper VF-80 NH
A well centered and very fine NH example of the 3c carmine Winnipeg Tagged Queen Elizabeth II stamp from the 1954-63 Wilding Issue, in a blank upper right (UR) block of 4. Printed on horizontal wove paper giving a dull fluorescent greyish white reaction under ultraviolet light and showing mesh only when held to the light. In addition the cutting guideline is visible in the upper right selvage. It is unusual to find the blocks with the cutting guideline as the line was usually split in the cutting process. The tagging is lightly applied, being almost invisible to the naked eye. There is a remnant of a tagging bar visible in the right selvage, indicating that this block is from a middle pane. Shiny, yellowish cream gum. Unitrade values VF-75 NH blocks at $9. The blocks offered here grade 80 as follows:
Centering/margins: 50/70
Paper freshness: 5/5
Colour: 5/5
Impression: 5/5
Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5
Perforations: 10/10
Note: the above scan is a stock photo as are all my scans for material after 1952. The item(s) you will receive has (have) been carefully checkedto adhere to the above grading standards, so while they may not be exactly the same, they will be of the same quality. Also, I do not provide back scans of NH stamps or blocks after 1952 unless they are required to illustrate some attribute of the paper of gum.
