Canada #110c (SG#249) 4c Chrome (Golden) Yellow Admiral Issue Wet Printing, Paper With No Mesh VF-75 NH

SKU 322192446378

A very fine mint NH example of the 4c chrome yellow (golden yellow in Unitrade), wet printing Admiral stamp from the 1911-1928 Admiral Issue. Printed on white vertical wove paper showing no visible mesh, and measuring 0.004" thick. The gum is a smooth, shiny cream. The key distinguishing characteristic of this scarce shade group (there are at least two variants) is the complete lack of any green or any brown to the colour. Both the 110 olive bistre and 110b olive yellow shade groupings either have a greenish or brownish cast to them. The so called golden yellow does not - it has a gold tone. Even though Unitrade calls it golden yellow, it is actually closest to either chrome yellow or pure yellow on the Stanley Gibbons colour key. Unitrade values a VF-75 NH single at $600. The stamp offered here grades 75 as follows:

Centering/margins: 45/70

Paper freshness: 5/5

Colour: 5/5

Impression: 5/5

Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5

Perforations: 10/10
