A well centered and very fine OG HR example of the 3c deep rose red (carmine in Unitrade), die 2 Admiral stamp from the 1911-1928 Admiral Issue. Printed on white vertical wove paper showing no visible mesh, and measuring 0.0045" thick. The gum is a smooth, shiny cream. Die 2 is much harder to find than die 1 due to the fact that most of the stamps went unused when the war tax was abolished in 1926 and the domestic rate was reduced to 2c. Consequently most die 2 stamps were used to produce the 12 x 8 provisional issue of 1931 when the war tax was reinstated. Unitrade values a VF-75 OG single at $70. The stamp offered here grades 80 as follows:
Centering/margins: 50/70
Paper freshness: 5/5
Colour: 5/5
Impression: 5/5
Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5
Perforations: 10/10
