Canada #107e (SG#247) 2c Green Admiral Issue Dry Printing Unlisted Thin Paper F-70 NH
A fine NH example of the 2c green (green in Unitrade), dry printing Admiral stamp from the 1911-1928 Admiral Issue. Printed on translucent white vertical wove paper showing coarse vertical mesh, and measuring 0.004" thick. This is much thinner in appearance to the normal paper used for the dry printings that measures between 0.0045" and 0.005" thick. The scan at the extreme right shows the difference between these two papers with the normal paper on the extreme right, and this thinner paper on the left. This paper is listed on the dry printings of the 7c pale red brown and is recognized as being very scarce on that stamp, but for some reason Unitrade does not list it on any other value. It must be very scarce as this is the first time I have encountered it in over 35 years of collecting, studying and dealing in Canadian stamps. The gum is smooth, shiny yellowish cream. Unitrade values a F-65 NH single on normal paper at $12. All the other paper differences on this series list for between $100-$200 for FNH, so I would think that a value of $100 for this stamp is not unreasonable. The stamp offered here grades 70 as follows:
Paper freshness: 5/5
Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5
I currently have two examples in stock in this grade. You will receive one of the above pictured stamps of your choice.
