Canada #107a (SG#247b) 2c Deep Green 1911-1928 Admiral Issue Thin Paper SUP-96 VLD

SKU 222185685462

A perfectly centered and superb mint OG NH (very light gum disturbance at base) example of the 2c deep green (yellow green in Unitrade), wet printing Admiral stamp on the so called "thin paper" from the 1911-1928 Admiral Issue. Printed on white vertical wove paper showing coarse vertical mesh, and measuring 0.004" thick. So although Unitrade lists this paper as thin, it is actually not any thinner than the normal paper - it only appears so because of the extremely coarse weave and the dark green colour, which shows clearly through the back. The gum is smooth, shiny cream. Unitrade values a VF-75 OG single at $30. However, that value is irrelevant for a perfectly centered example such as this. In fact, Admirals grading above VF-84 are always scarce to rare and are consequently worth much more than the Unitrade price for VF. The stamp offered here grades 96 as follows:

Centering/margins: 70/70

Paper freshness: 5/5

Colour: 5/5

Impression: 5/5

Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5

Perforations: 6/10
