Canada #180 (SG#306) 2c Deep Dull Green King George V 1930-1931 Arch Issue Coil Line Single VG-60 OG
A very good OG example of the 2c deep dull green King George V coil stamp from the 1930-32 Arch Issue, showing the line in left margin from a line pair. Printed on horizontal wove paper with no clear mesh, and with smooth cream gum, that shows light and dark horizontal streaks. Although not mentioned in Unitrade, the coil stamps of this issue have several different paper and gum type combinations, and there are at least two different shades of each value. The paper varies according to the direction of the weave (horizontal versus vertical) and the direction and visibility of the mesh. The gum varies in colour and sheen. In my opinion these varieties are every bit as collectible as perforation and shade varieties on the other issues. Perf. 8.5 vertical. Unitrade values a F-65 OG single at $4. The stamp here grades VG-60 OG follows:
Margins/centering: 30/70
Paper freshness: 5/5
Colour: 5/5
Impression: 5/5
Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5
Perforations: 10/10
