Proof Material and Artwork
Proofs are essentially drafts of stamps that have been produced for review and approval prior to being printed for issue. They are generally extremely scarce to very rare, due to the fact that by their very nature, very few are produced. Artwork refers to the sketches and paintings produced by the stamp's designers which were either accepted or rejected. These items represent the true "cherry" to place on top of an otherwise complete collection.
