First Day Covers
First Day Covers (FDC's) are commemorative envelopes prepared on the first day of a stamp's issue. They can also be regular envelopes that bear a stamp that just happens to have been used on its first day of issue. But, most bear fancy designs called cachets, which were often hand-drawn, at least in the early days.
