17c overpaid single weight airmail cover sent from Toronto, ON on November 17, 1957 to Varde, Denmark. Franked with a single #320 7c Karsh definitive, plus a pair of #374 5c Royal Visit commemorative. Together these stamps overpay the 15c preferential airmail rate to Europe. An unusual usage of the 5c Royal Visit commemorative issue and the 7c Karsh definitive, as most covers would have been paid with either #351 & 341, #320 x 2 + 337 or #343. An attractive two colour franking. The cover offered here grades VG-59 as follows:

Intactness of the cover: 10/25 (one small piece of each backflap missing and a few opening tears)

Paper freshness from the front: 20/25

Paper freshness from the back: 8/10

Condition of the paper and edges: 5/15 ( a couple of small edge tears)

Appearance of the handwriting: 4/5

Clarity of the postal markings: 10/15

Condition of the stamps: 2/5

My asking price for this cover is based on 60% of a value of $4 arrived at as follows:

Destination: $3 (Denmark is scarcer than West Germany or the UK).

Franking: $2 (((5 points x 3 points) +5 points) x $0.10 per point). Each stamp is rated according to how common it is a cover of this rate and assigned a point value.

Discount for condition: 25%
