A primarily VFNH group of the 2/6d aborigine high value definitive, that was in use from 1952 until 1965, on the watermarked paper. These are all printings made before 1957, when the unwatermarked paper was introduced. Included in the group are:

  • Pale sepia brown, on paper showing clear cross-mesh when held up to a light source.
  • Sepia brown, on similar paper. This stamp is LH.
  • Deeper sepia brown on similar paper, and
  • Agate, on paper showing little to no mesh.

Gibbons lists these at 9 pounds (approx. $18) for VFNH. The stamps offered here grade between 80 and 84 as follows:
