An extremely fine example of the 5c Prussian blue Sir Wilfred Grenfell Issue First Day Cover, with a block of 4. Black Rose Craft cachet depicting Grenfell and his ship. The envelope is on hibrite paper stock, while the block is printed on paper giving a dull fluorescent greyish reaction under ultraviolet light, with a sparse concentration of medium fluorescent fibres. The block is tied by a crisp strike of an Ottawa wavy line first day cancel. The cover offered here grades XF-87 as follows:

Intactness of the cover: 25/25

Paper freshness from the front: 20/25

Paper freshness from the back: 4/10

Condition of the paper and edges: 15/15

Appearance of the handwriting: 5/5 (unaddressed)

Clarity of the postal markings: 15/15

Condition of the stamps: 3/5

Unitrade lists a Rosecraft or Artcraft cachet for a single stamp, on dull paper, on cover for $2. Unitrade does not list this stamp on fluorescent paper, let alone on FDC, nor does it price multiples. However, a reasonable value for this would be $10. Note: the above scan is a stock photo as are all my scans for material after 1952. The cover you will receive has been carefully checked to adhere to the above grading standards, so while it (they) may not be exactly the same, it (they) will be of the same quality.
