Canada #37 (SG#83) 3c Orange Red Perf 12. On Websters Dictionary Advertising Cover F/VF

An attractive advertising corner card cover from G.&C. Merriam, publishers of the Websters dictionary, based in Springfield Massachusetts, mailed from Halifax, NS on August 28, 1882. Franked with a fine example of #37, tied to the cover by a clear strike of the barred oval Halifax duplex cancel. Somewhat blurred Springfield, Mass receiving backstamp. There is some very slight soiling around the edges on the left side, and a very small tear (2mm) on the right edge at the centre. These are of minor consequence for a cover of this vintage. A beautiful item!
